SJM Carpentry and Building apprentice Daryl McIntrye has been recognised for his hard work and persistence, winning the Third Year Apprentice of the Year award.
Daryl received the award at a ceremony in Adelaide on May 17, which he attended with employer Sam MacDonald. Daryl is one of several apprentices employed by SJM Building & Carpentry, a business that has kickstarted the careers of many local, young people.
Daryl expressed his appreciation of SJM after learning of his award. "I'd like to thank my supervisor Paul Sandy, who has been my main teacher on site for the past few years," said Daryl, "and Sam MacDonald for taking a risk on me, as a mature-aged apprentice."
Daryl has now entered the final year of his apprenticeship, taking on extra responsibilities on many of SJM's projects.
